I was born on 24 December 1974 in a district town 20 km west of Ulm in southern Germany. After primary school, I attended the Urspringschule, a maths and science boarding school on the edge of the Swabian Alb. There, parallel to my school education, I began an apprenticeship as a carpenter in the 9th grade, which I successfully completed 9 months after graduating from high school. I first came into contact with photography as part of the art performance course. I developed my first prints myself in the school’s own laboratory and after completing my community service, I completed a one-year pre-study internship at a new media agency in Heidelberg. There I prepared for my application for a design degree program at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences.

In autumn 1998, I finally began the multimedia diploma course and completed it with the work »Otto + Anna«. The theme of the work was the visualization of a period of time through a palindromic 3D animation of free-form still images, and for the MTV/VH-1 iClip Award I founded the artist group »stabile seitenlage« together with three fellow students. In addition to winning the competition, they also created the video installation »teil«, which was shown in autumn 2001 at lothringer13, the forum for art and media of the city of Munich. After graduating, I spent my first years working as an interface designer in the automotive industry in Munich.I then moved to Cologne, my adopted home, where I have lived with my wife and two sons since 2009.Since then I have been working in the field of UX design and software development and occasionally dedicate myself to various projects, time permitting.I mainly work with photography, but also interactive media, such as the children’s app »The Little Wolf«, which won the New Media Award for Young Talent in 2013 and received a lot of attention online.
